It seems it may be a bit lonely here for a while... but maybe it will grow into something useable???

Does any one have any interest in ultra low output amps... say in the one or two watt range? My main gig involves a couple hundred people on Sunday mornings and we just don't have much space to get loud... for instance I can't use a full out Fender Champ but I have been using a 6SN7 triode output in push pull and it works great.

I played with numerous output tubes both triodes and pentodes. I have a few results to share and would appreciate thoughts to kick around if anybody is interested??

I've been meaning to get into an ultra low wattage design.  I just haven't had time to dedicate to doing it properly and checking out all the output tube options.

I have a friend who made one with a 12AU7 in parallel for SE operation and it sounds pretty good, but I'm not crazy about his preamp.  Someone else I know has done a tweed Deluxe with a 12AU7 in PP operation and it sounds really good.

But there are so many little tubes to investigate...

I am trying to plan a low watt build using sub miniature tubes. I would like to also use a sub miniature rectifier. I have a 5641 rectifier but, this is only half wave. I'm not sure how to wire it up. Should I use two of them to get full wave? I would like to get it to SAG. Perhaps with two it will not? Can I use a transformer with a center tap? As you can see I have a long way to go. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I have 6111, 6112 preamp and 5902 power tubes as of this time.

this is a cool small amp design.  I noticed a year or so ago and have been meaning just to try it with some spare parts.

the site uses frames, so you have to go to "guitar amps" then look for the firefly amp link.

http://www.diyguitarist.com/

a push-pull 1.5 watt tube amp utilizing two 12AX7 preamp tubes and a 12AU7 preamp tube in a self-split power tube configuration. One of the 12AX7 tubes is in a switchable cascode boost circuit. Not only is this an interesting and unusual way to use preamp tubes, but it also sounds great! My Firefly is built per the Rev. 3 schematic, except for an added resonance control. The resonance control I used is a 5K pot with a built-in switch. It can be switched in or out of the circuit. The cap value is flexible and can be any value between 10uF and 47uF.

pretty sweet looking.  my next project after my current 5E3 is the tube drive pedal...then maybe one of these.
